SHO tries to stop jeep for checking, mowed down

A police officer was killed after a jeep ran over him when he tried to stop it for checking near Gathilasar village in Rajasthan's Nagaur district, the police said today.

Station House Officer (SHO) Puranmal Meena had signaled the driver to stop the vehicle, but the jeep sped towards the check post, mowing down the policeman, they said.


The SHO was rushed to the JLN Hospital where he died during treatment. A search has been launched to nab the jeep's driver, the police said.

Meena was posted with the Sri Balaji police station.
