Are Organic Sports Drinks Better?
"The raisin exercise couples our awareness with our ability to exert control over our 'automatic' reactions," Korn told the Post.
So how exactly does one go about completing the "raisin exercise"? Think of it more of an act of raisin seduction. First, grab that raisin, and look at all those wrinkles. Count them, even. Feel them between your fingertips. Next, bring that raisin right up to your nose and smell it, taking in that sweet, sweet raisin fragrance. Pop it in your mouth, but don't rush! Take some time to move your tongue over every little wrinkly peak and valley. Then slowly, very slowly, start chewing the raisin, then picture it sliding down your throat and settling into your gut. Now, check in and ask yourself, how hungry are you, really? (Here's what your hunger could be telling you.)
Does it actually work? This exercise has long been a part of mindfulness training, which can have all sorts of positive effects, stress reduction being chief among them. So give it a shot. If it doesn't, here are 11 other ways you can shut down your junk food cravings when you're feeling stressed.
