A 25-year-old man was arrested for allegedly attacking people with a knife on Sunday night in Mangolpuri. He was allegedly inebriated and was caught and beaten up by the public.
At around 10 p.m., Shubham, a daily wage worker and native of Uttar Pradesh who has been residing with friends in Mangolpuri, started attacking pedestrians with his knife.
At least six people, including two senior citizens, suffered injuries. Another man was grievously injured and had to undergo a surgery at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital.
A case of attempt to murder has been registered at Mangolpuri police station. A senior police officer privy to the case said that Shubham did not have a criminal background, but he will be interrogated, and his mental condition examined.
