The High Court on Monday directed the prosecutor to file a statement in response to an anticipatory bail petition moved by Kavya Madhavan, film actor, and wife of actor Dileep.

She has approached the High Court fearing arrest in connection with the case relating to abduction and sexual assault on woman actor.

When the petition was taken up for hearing, the Director General of Prosecution (DGP) submitted that she had not been arraigned as an accused so far. The court asked whether she had been made a witnesses in the case. The DGP submitted that she had been questioned on several occasions. The court then asked the DGP to file a statement in this regard.

She alleged in her petition that the police were “torturing, humiliating and harassing” her in public by allowing a hardcore criminal (prime accused in the case, ‘Pulsar’ Suni) to make planned piecemeal disclosures to media.

The court adjourned to September 25 for further hearing.
