Odisha to experience heavy rainfall

Several parts of are likely to experience heavy rainfall in next 24 hours under the influence of a low pressure formed over Bay of Bengal, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Tuesday afternoon.

"Under the the influence of the upper air cyclonic circulation over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of and Gangetic West Bengal, a low pressure area has formed over Northwest Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood," said an afternoon bulletin of IMD.

It said rain and thundershower are likely to occur at most places in districts of during next 24 hours.

IMD forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places and extremely heavy rainfall at one or two places in districts of north Heavy rainfall at one or two places in the districts of south are likely to occur during next 24 hours.

"Strong gusty surface wind from northwesterly direction with speed reaching 45-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph in South Coastal and wind from easterly direction with speed reaching 35-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph in North Coastal are likely to prevail along and off Coast," said the bulletin.

Saying that sea condition would be rough to very rough in south coastal and moderate to rough in north coast, IMD advised fishermen not to venture into sea in south coast.

It also advised them to be cautious while venturing into sea in north coast.
