Mumbai has once again been hit with heavy rainfall that began Tuesday evening and is continuing today. On Tuesday, several low-lying localities were flooded, leading to traffic jams across the city. Operations at the Mumbai International Airport remain suspended until this morning, with a total of 56 flights diverted. They have partly resumed this morning. Train services, too, are slowly resuming. On Tuesday, the Western Railways were either cancelled or diverted to the Central Railways.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had on Sunday predicted that the city is likely to witness heavy rainfall till Friday. The financial capital and its suburbs are likely to receive intermittent rain on Wednesday, while a few places are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall. High tide is expected at 12.03 pm on Wednesday — which, in effect, means if it is raining heavily at noon, several low-lying areas will flood. So it’s best you avoid stepping out at noon or get to your destination before noon.
