The Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Ltd (TSSPDCL) has been presented with the “Leading State Discom” award in the regeneration energy category at the Renewable Energy India Expo being held by UBM India in association with Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd at New Delhi on Tuesday.
The Discom has been selected for the award for its measures for its energy saving initiatives, indexing of consumers, energy accounting and auditing, efficient power distribution plan, linking regenerated energy with the grid and improving the renewable energy generation. The award was received by TSSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director G. Raghuma Reddy.
Installed capacity
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Raghuma Reddy said the capacity of renewable energy linked to the grid would go up to 3,663 MW including solar, wind and roof-top net metering. The installed capacity of solar power had gone up to 2,275 MW from 48 MW in 2014. A total of 1,230 consumers were generating 21.8 MW solar power and supplying it to the grid with the roof-top net metering. About 1,350 MW solar power capacity would be added to the grid by December itself, he noted.
Further, he stated that the contribution of renewable energy was 267.9 MW including 100.8 MW wind, 74 MW of biogas, 18.5 MW from industrial waste, 68 MW from biomass and 6.6 MW from the municipal solid waste. Mr. Reddy they were already given A Grade rating and award for encouraging solar power generation by the Energy Ministry, SKOCH award and Green Grid award.
