The Hindu in association with Vignan University is conducting a competition - Academic Pentathlon - for students across the States of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The regional rounds of the competition will be held in Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Guntur, Tirupati and Hyderabad with the grand finale at Vignan University, Vadlamudi, Guntur.
The regional round for Visakhapatnam will be held on Saturday (September 23) at the Integral Institute of Advanced Management (IIAM), MVP Colony, from 9 a.m..
The Hindu Academic Pentathlon is for 11th (Junior Inter) and 12th standard (Senior Inter) students and is a scholastic competition covering events such as math quiz, physics quiz, chemistry quiz, elocution in English and performing arts (music, dance & skit).
While the time allotted for elocution is 3 minutes per team of two members, the time allotted for performing arts performance is 4 minutes per team (two in each team).
Topic
The topic for elocution is: “My Capital – My Amaravti”.
Each team should consist of 10 students (2 each for maths, physics, chemistry, English and performing arts).
Grand finale
The top three teams with the maximum overall score in all the five fields will be awarded trophies and medals and will qualify for the grand finale at Vignan University, Vadlamudi, Guntur.
Gratification for the regional event will be done on the date of the event itself.
Scholarship
The participants of the top three teams will be given travelling allowance for the grand finale and regional winners will get scholarship of 10% on the fee amount from Vignan University if they seek admission.
All the participants of this competition will be given a certificate of participation.
The prizes and scholarships for the mega finals include first prize - ₹ 50,000 cash prize and 50% scholarship on the fee amount, second prize - ₹ 30,000 cash prize and 25% scholarship on the fee amount and third prize - ₹ 20,000 cash prize and 25% scholarship on the fee amount. (The scholarship is only for those who seek admission in Vignan.)
