more-in

Two Fixed Compactor Transfer Stations (FCTS) were set up in Tagore Garden on Monday by the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) to manage waste better.

Officials said the project is compatible with Solid Waste Management Rules. The new system will cater to waste generated in households in 29 wards of SDMC’s west zone comprising around 19 lakh people.

The SDMC plans to install 28 FCTS and 20 mobile transfer systems within three weeks. SDMC Commissioner P.K. Goel said implementation of the project will ensure primary and secondary collection of garbage side by side.
