Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader and Mahabubnagar legislator V. Srinivas Goud has accused the Opposition parties of resorting to cheap politics in the matter of sarees being distributed to women by the government for Bathukamma festival.
Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, he stated that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had taken the decision to supply sarees to women for Bathukamma festival keeping in mind the women from poor families and to provide employment to handloom weavers. The total requirement of sarees for distribution was about 1.04 crore and as it was not possible to procure all within the State and half of them were ordered from Surat.
Stating that there was good response from women for the Bathukamma sarees, Mr. Goud said some Opposition leaders were conspiring to create trouble in the programme.
