The Rs 1000 crore project to construct a 216 feet `Statue of Equality’ of Sri Ramanujacharya on the outskirts of Hyderabad is all set to be completed by March 2018.
It commemorates the Sahasrabdi anniversary (1017-2017) or 1000 th anniversary of saint Ramanujacharya. The project conceived in 2014 is coming up on a large area in Sriramnagar, Shamshabad close to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. Made out of Pancha Loha (combination of 5 metals), the project is aided by artisans from China.
Giving an update on the progress, the main architects behind the project Chinna Jeeyar Swamy and Chairman of My Home Group, J Rameswara Rao said the statue will be surrounded by 108 Divya Desas which will e built in stone, rich with ornate architectural detailing and the entire site will be environmental friendly.
As part of the celebrations, an International Short Film Festival on Sri Ramanujacharya will be organised by the Jeeyar Integrated Vedic Academy (JIVA) in association with Global Hindu Heritage Foundation & Savetemples.org, US during February 1-3, 2018 at Prasad Labs in Hyderabad.
The best Short Film will be given a cash prize of Rs10 lakhs with “Sri Ramanuja Sahasrabdhi Puraskaram”, the Second prize will get Rs 8 lakhs and the Third Rs 6 lakhs.
