In a suspected case of road rage on Sunday evening, a 38-year-old man was shot at following an argument with a man over honking and right of way at Saket here.
Amit was allegedly shot at for not giving way to Rahul Rai’s car. The police control room received a call regarding a firing incident in Saket at 5.48 p.m.
Car parked incorrectly
The officer said Mr. Rai, a Chhatarpur resident, was on his way home from Nainital in his car along with his driver Khusvinder Singh.
As the car was passing through Khokha Market, a white sedan bearing a Delhi number and parked incorrectly obstructed the driver’s path. The driver honked a several times to draw the attention of the car owner and somehow managed to pass through.
However, an argument ensued between Mr. Rai and Mr. Amit, the owner of the sedan that was allegedly parked incorrectly. As Mr. Rai and his driver started moving towards his residence, Mr. Amit decided to confront them. He overtook and intercepted their car near a bank in Saket.
Fighting ensues
“Mr. Amit got out of his car and started fighting with them once again. In order to scare him, Mr. Rai took out a pistol and pointed it at him. Mr. Amit tried to snatch the gun from him. In the tussle, a bullet was fired and Mr. Amit sustained an injury on the palm,” said the officer.
Case filed
A senior police officer said Mr. Rai was arrested. A case under the relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered at Saket police station.
