Japanese now leading long lives through yoga: Diplomat

Yoga has now become popular in Japan, with many leading long lives through regular practice of the traditonal exercises, the Consul General of in Kolkata, Masayuki Taga has said.

Taga, speaking at a function here, hailed the Indo-Association Calcutta and Ghosh Yoga Institute Japan, for their initiatives in popularising yoga in and other parts of the world.


"Many Japanese are regularly practising yoga and leading a healthy life," he said on Sunday.

The Japanese Postal Department also released four stamps to honour the four top yoga exponents of - Karuna Ghosh, Biswanath Ghosh, Yogacharya Bishnu Charan Ghosh and Ashutosh Ghosh - for their contributions in initiating and spreading yoga in
