Green Lodging News

Green Lodging News, lodging’s leading environmental news source, and Greenview, a leader in advancing hotel sustainability, have released the Green Lodging Trends Report 2017. The second annual report details the results of the Green Lodging Trends Report Survey and is available at no cost by clicking here. The report is based on data from 2,093 hotels in 46 countries and provides industry trends on topics ranging from energy management to communication to—for the first time in its own category—Health & Wellness. The report includes results of 110 best practices in 12 categories.

Sponsors this year include Cass Information Systems, Inc., reCollect2 and ClearWater Tech. Green Lodging Trends Report 2017 Supporters include the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Assn., Avendra, Boston Green Tourism, Green Seal, Brighton Management, Horwath HTL—Asia Pacific, Green Key, Travelife, Green Key Global and GreenOtels.

“I am excited to announce the release of this second annual groundbreaking report,” says Glenn Hasek, Publisher & Editor of Green Lodging News. “This year’s report saw increased participation, thousands of best practices and innovations, and insight into common operational steps hoteliers are taking to reduce their environmental impact while reducing costs and improving the guest and staff experience at the same time. We owe a huge thank you to the survey’s sponsors and supporters for their assistance with this project.”

“Hotels need multiple resources to improve in their journey toward sustainability,” said Grace Kang, Managing Partner at Greenview. “With more data and empirical trends on best practices and visibly by hotel type and geographic region, the Green Lodging Trends Report is the first place a hotel can see what it should be doing to keep pace, and learn what the leaders are doing this year.”

In addition to publishing Green Lodging Trends Report 2017, a compare report was prepared for each survey participant, serving as a yardstick to understand the status of each specific practice within the general participant universe. Participating hotel companies also received a portfolio report and snapshot across properties.

The Green Lodging Survey is an annual exercise for industry trends and benchmarking. The 2018 survey will open in the second quarter of 2018, with the results published in the fourth quarter of 2018. The survey will be enhanced next year to add new, innovative best practices to the questions. It will be further improved based on participant feedback, particularly in segmenting or adjusting the questions by property type, so that properties can be benchmarked according to property type.

[E1]This has a lot of content and essentially gives the reader the executive summary. If the point of the press release is to entice the reader to download and view the report, then a large list of findings is counter-productive as they’re getting all the summary info in the press release. Suggest cutting to approximately 5-8 trends only, and with more concise wording and less figures so that they are quotable. Some wording changes made here to the first few as an example.
