JAMMU, Sept 18: To strengthen its base in the State and make inroads in Kashmir valley, the BJP has asked its Ministers in the State to increase the public liaison and work in a team spirit.
This was stated by the two senior national leaders of the party while addressing the two separate meetings of the partymen at Srinagar today.
Two senior national leaders including Party national general secretary (Org), Ram Lal and national vice president, Avinash Rai Khanna while addressing the separate meetings of ‘Vistarks’ (whole timers) and office bearers, district presidents, MLCS and VCs of various Corporations and Boards asked the Ministers to hold the public darbar once in a week at Party Office Jawahar Nagar, Srinagar on pattern of the Jammu region to hear the grievances of party workers and activists, Party sources told Excelsior.
Sources said later the two national leaders besides Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh, BJP State president, Sat Sharma, Party general secretaries, Ashok Koul and Narinder Singh called on Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti at her official residence in summer capital and discussed the prevailing situation in the State with her.
The Chief Minister informed the BJP leaders that the situation is limping to normalcy slowly in the Valley and also apprised them the Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) taken by her Government in this regard. She informed them that she herself has started visiting the trouble -torn areas and stayed for a night at Pulwama yesterday, met people there and heard their grievances.
Mehbooba said in future she will visit Shopian and other parts of the Valley, stay there and meet cross section of people to ascertain their problems and hear their grievances. The BJP leaders also stressed that the elaborate steps be taken for restoration of peace and normalcy in the Valley.
They further discussed the measures to be taken for all-round development of all the three regions of the State.
The BJP national leaders also called on Governor N N Vohra at Raj Bhawan, Srinagar. They shared their views about the measure required for all round development and promoting the welfare of the people in all regions of the State.
Sources said earlier in the meeting with the office bearers some district presidents from Valley expressed their strong resentment that Ministers don’t respond properly to them in Civil Secretariat when they approach them with public grievances. They said if such will be the approach of the Party which is in the Government, how the BJP could increase its public base in the trouble-torn Valley. The district presidents also complained that while on tour to any part of the Valley the ministers of their party prefer the PDP leaders to visit along with them instead of BJP leaders like district presidents or other office bearers of the party from the respective areas. “This way feel insulted among the masses”, sources added while quoting some district presidents.
To redress the concerns shown by the district presidents and other office bearers, Ram Lal said that every BJP Minister will hold a public darbar in the summer capital once in a week to meet the party activists and redress the public grievances on the pattern of Jammu.
Sources said both Ram Lal and Khanna informed the activists and leaders that BJP is not a political party only but it takes the social aspect also into consideration and the party activists in Kashmir should go to every nook and corner to take the policies and programmes of Modi Government to masses which are meant for welfare of the people and development of State and country as a whole.
Sources said the national leaders informed the party men that their grievances will be brought into the notice of the ministers in the meeting which will be held later with them and all efforts will be made that there should be no such grievances among the office bearers in future.
Both Ram Lal and Khanna urged the party activists to work hard for strengthening the party and increasing its support base in Valley. The Party also set a target of doubling its membership in Valley from three lakh to six lakh, sources said.
The two national leaders further asked partymen to work hard so that BJP can form next Government on its own in the State and this can only be possible when Party gets some seats from Kashmir Valley too. They said that party needs to work hard and in this regard a strategy should to be framed from today from booth level by adopting the formula of one booth ten youth.

Ram Lal said in Kashmir a large number of people belong to the backward classes and it will be the endeavor of the BJP that these people should get their due rights while assuring party’s full solidarity to them.
Sources said later in the meeting with BJP Ministers at the residence of Minister of Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga, the two national leaders stressed on team work, increasing liaison with party men and public.
