The Indian Institute of Science(IISC) has sacked a security guard accused of sexually harassing a 22-year-old undergraduate student on its campus.

Acting on a complaint by the girl, the Sadashivanagar police have arrested the guard, identified as Gautham Raj. He has been remanded in judicial custody.

According to the victim, on September 14, Raj wanted to talk to her about something when she was at the library. He held her and wanted her to kiss him. However, she escaped from there and reached her hostel room. Later, she called her brother, also a student on the campus, and narrated the incident.

She approached internal committee for sexual harassment and lodged a complaint with the police. Raj has been booked under IPC Section 354A(2) for seeking sexual favours.
