The Gurdaspur District Officer today placed under suspension a forest guard for not removing political hoardings from trees belonging to his department.

DEO Gurloveleen Singh Sidhu said that Sandeep Masih, a forest guard in Southbeat of Forest Department Dhariwal in Gurdaspur district, had not obeyed the directions of the Commission and has been suspended for dereliction of duty.

The DEO said Singh failed to remove political hoardings and posters from the trees belonging to the forest department.

A bypoll in the constituency was necessitated because sitting MP and actor Vinod Khanna passed away in April.

The polling will take place on October 11.
