India vs Australia, Live Cricket Score, 1st ODI: India 281/7 after 50 overs – RAIN HAS DELAYED AUSTRALIA’S CHASE. After being asked to chase 260 runs and then 238 runs, Australia’s ask might get even lesser. Earlier, Hardik Pandya’s whirlwind 83-run innings and MS Dhoni’s gritty 79 runs anchored the innings as India recovered from 11 for 3 to post 281 for the loss of seven wickets in the first ODI against Australia in Chennai. Pandya’s clean striking and sensible cricket from India’s former captain Dhoni led India’s recovery and took them to a competitive total. Rohit Sharma too tried to get in among the runs but a pull off a short ball from Stoinis proved his undoing. India lost three early wickets, that of Ajinkya Rahane, Virat Kohli and Manish Pandey, in the first six overs. India won the toss and elected to bat against Australia but did not get the desired start. The new opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane in the absence of Shikhar Dhawan did not give a strong start as the latter was caught behind in the fourth over. He chased a wide ball from Nathan Counter-Nile and was caught by Matthew Wade. Steve Smith dropped Rohit Sharma at second slip but a ball later, Glenn Maxwell took a stunner at backward point to dismiss Virat Kohli! Manish Pandey was caught behind for duck in the same over. Ravindra Jadeja did not feature in the playing as India decided to go in with two wrist spinners in Yuzvender Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav.
