Prices of good liquoring teas spurted at Kochi auctions, especially those came under the selection of Kerala blenders. An improved demand was noticed for plainer varieties.

In sale no 37, the quantity on offer for CTC dust grades was 11,22,000 kg. Some export enquiry was seen for plainer varieties, the auctioneers Forbes, Ewart & Figgis said.

In orthodox grades, the market for primary grades was firm to dearer. The quantity on offer was 17,000 kg. Exporters and upcountry buyers absorbed only a small quantity.

In Cochin CTC dust quotation, good varieties fetched ₹110-153, medium grades quoted ₹82-124 and plain stood at ₹55-70.

In the leaf category, the market for Nilgiri brokens and whole leaf in orthodox grades was firm to dearer following quality. The quantity on offer was 2,85,000 kg. A good export enquiry was noticed from CIS countries.

With a good demand, the market for high-priced brokens in CTC leaf was dearer. The quantity on offer was 64,500 kg.

In dust category, Murugan SRD quoted the best prices at ₹154 in dust varieties while Chamraj FOP-S (Green Tea) came to the top in leaf quoting ₹360.
