Authorities direct institutions to immediately implement safety measures

The Gautam Budh Nagar District Magistrate (DM) on Saturday gave all Noida schools till September 30 to make sure that proper safety measures are implemented and all the CBSE guidelines are followed to ensure welfare of students.

The deadline was given in a meeting between the district administration, school authorities and officials from the transport and police department.

The police suggested that schools should install wired fences on top of boundary walls to prevent people from entering the premises. The administration, meanwhile, has asked the schools to recheck whether all installed CCTVs were in working order.

Schools were also told about the transport guidelines of the Central Board of School Education.

DM B. N. Singh has also asked the schools to carry out police verification of all their staff. The administration will be sending a form to all the schools wherein they will have to provide all the essential details of their employees, an official said.

Random inspections

After September 30, random inspections will be conducted by district administration officials. “We will be checking every school to ensure that CBSE guidelines are followed properly. Strict action will be taken against those found not taking the safety of students seriously,” said Mr. Singh.

A training session to sensitise school staff on transport guidelines will be conducted in Gautam Buddha University on September 17. The DM has asked all schools to send their teachers, drivers, conductors and the management persons to attend the three-hour training.

Schools have also been told to install CCTV cameras and GPS device on their buses. There should be a verified conductor and female guard present in the buses while picking up and dropping kids, the administration added.
