The District Planning Committee (DPC) on Friday called for better cooperation on the part of local self government institutions for the timely implementation of developmental projects listed under the annual plan.
At a review meeting here, the DPC expressed disappointment over the slow pace of project execution in Kozhikode district.
District panchayat president Babu Parassery said from next year onwards, prior approval of the district panchayat would be made mandatory for all joint development ventures by grama panchayats.
Mr. Parassery said the DPC would form 16 new sub-committees for the district-level planning and implementation of various development projects.
Of the ₹481.81 crore plan fund earmarked for the annual plan in 2017-18 fiscal, only ₹72.16 crore has been spent in the district so far, as per official figures released by the DPC here on Friday. The achievement was below 15% of the target. Meanwhile, Kayanna grama panchayat, Perambra block panchayat and Mukkom municipality came out with a comparatively good performance in plan fund expenditure.
The list of poor performers included Onchiyam grama panchayat, Kunnamangalam block panchayat and the Koyilandy municipality.
