The Central Board of Secondary Education today issued a showcause notice to the Ryan International School in Gurgaon, asking the institution why its affiliation should not be revoked.

The notice comes in response to the murder of seven-year-old Pradyuman Thakur, who was found with his throat slit in one of the school washrooms on Friday, September 8.

In the notice that CBSE sent to Ryan International School, Gurgaon, the board has indicted the institution for violating laid-down rules relating employing school staff. Ryan International School, Gurgaon has been given 15 days to reply to the CBSE notice.

If the school fails to respond to the notice, the board will make an ex-parte decision based on the affiliation bye-laws, the notice warns.

The board's action comes as the school comes under intense pressure over the seven-year-old child's murder. While Gurgaon Police has arrested a school bus conductor, Ashok Kumar, for Pradyuman's murder, there have been allegations from some quarters that the school is covering something up.

Ryan has also been criticised by many for failing to appropriate measures that could have prevented Pradyuman's murder.
