Flipkart aims at 20% of sales from large appliances

India’s largest ecommerce company Flipkart is aiming at 20% of its total sales to come from large appliance category during the fourth edition of The Big Billion Days Sale with an average discount of 20% to 30%.

“Besides our own private label, we have tied up with Indian and global brands in the large appliance category. During this festival season we will achieve a sales growth of 250% to 280% compared with the same last year,” said Flipkart’s Large Appliances Category head Sandeep Karwa.

Commenting on the discounts, he said Flipkart will offer an average discount of 20% to 30% on all products in the large appliance category. “But five products in the category will have discounts of 40 to 50% discounts. Compared with the offline merchants, we are giving 15-20% discounts,” he told DH.

Flipkart’s Big Billion Days Sale will start from September 20 and close on September 24. During this period, the online retailer is offering up to 90% discount on products across all categories.

Karwa said the Big Billion Days Sale is being held first time after roll out of GST. Flipkart is helping consumers as well as around 65 brands who are looking at increasing their marketshare as festival season is very important for them. “During this sale period, we will do half of the month’s total sales of the entire categories like washing machines, fridge and microwave,” he said.

India’s largest ecommerce platform is also coming up with various contests and travel vouchers as part of the Big Billion Days sale. “We are also giving them a product exchange offer, both working and not working products. Besides debit and credit card nine month EMI, the company also offers 10% instant discount to all SBI debit or credit card users over and above offers,” Karwa said.

Flipkart is sourcing 85% of its products made in India.

The company holds various contests and issues travel vouchers as part of the Big Billion Day Sale.
