Education dept to hold orientation programme

DH News Service, Bengaluru, Sep 16 2017, 2:01 IST
The Education Department will conduct an orientation programme for teachers to ensure smooth conduct of Karnataka School Quality Assessment and Accreditation Council (KSQAAC) test scheduled for October 27 and 28.

"We will conduct video conferencing with 4,000 cluster resource persons. They would in turn get in touch with school headmasters regarding the exam process," additional chief secretary (primary and secondary education) Ajay Seth told DH.

The decision comes in the wake of opposition by teachers for holding the examination without preparation and a training programme.

The department will also instruct teachers about the examination process, Seth said.

Seth added: "The Department successfully conducted KSQAAC examintion 2016. It is just an examination and teachers are well-versed with it. Those who weren't part of KSQAAC examination are concerned and this would be addressed."

Meanwhile, teachers have continued to oppose the KSQAAC examination.

"The government's initiative of clubbing school centric exercise (KSQAAC) and student centric exercise (Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation) is unscientific," M A Khan, secretary, Bangalore South District High School Headmasters' Association, pointed out.

"KSQAAC doesn't have provisions to share OMR sheets with parents," he said.
