Party has turned blind eye to outrage in country, says leader

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday alleged that the BJP was shielding the owners of Ryan International schools, where a seven-year-old child was murdered recently. They said that instead of initiating an inquiry against the owners, the BJP government had named its owner Grace Pinto the director of Cotton Corporation of India.

Senior AAP leader Ashutosh alleged that the murder had caused widespread outrage across the country and had especially pained parents who entrust the schools the responsibility of protecting their children. However, the BJP government has turned a blind eye to this collective mourning and has instead gone on to support the school’s owners.

“The BJP government is going all out to protect the owners of the school. Not only is Grace Pinto a member of the BJP, she has also reportedly organised a membership drive for teachers and children in her schools. Now, with the BJP’s blessings, she was appointed the director of the Cotton Corporation of India on February 2, this year,” he said.

Mr. Ashutosh also alleged that reports have been doing the rounds that Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has named Ms. Pinto and one other member of her family in a stock market manipulation report.

“The BJP provides patronage to such people on a regular basis and rewards them by appointing them to top positions in government-run corporations,” he said.

The party also questioned as to why the Haryana government has not transferred the case to the CBI.
