Man arrested for stealing bags at IGI Airport

A 23-year-old (AI) SATS employee was arrested for allegedly stealing a passenger's bag at the Gandhi International (IGI) Airport here, the police said today.

Arnab Ghosal, a customer service agent with the company for more than a year, was arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by AI SATS assistant manager (security) Satish Kumar on September 11, DCP (IGI Airport) Sanjay Bhatia said.

Bhatia said that a case was registered after one of the nine bags, which were put under custom clearance, was missing.

"During analysis of the CCTV footage, the suspected person was identified as Ghosal and he was carrying the stolen bag. On September 12, a raid was conducted in Mahipalpur area," he said.

Bhatia said that Ghosal was apprehended and interrogated during which he had confessed to the crime. The stolen bag was recovered from his rented accommodation.

"One more bag was also found from his room and on questioning, he said he had stolen it earlier. The bags have been seized," the DCP said.
