Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today said a committee will be formed under district collectors in the state, which will handle minor cases related to violation of Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) norms.
The Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) has been handling the cases related to the coastal regulation zone violations.
The environment department has recently issued a notification about the formation of these committees that will also have representatives from different departments.
Parrikar said GCZMA is over burdened with plethora of cases and it is not able to handle them.
There is a provision within the CRZ rules that a committee headed by district collector can be constituted, he added.
"There is a provision that to deal with the normal cases, the district level committee can be formed. This will reduce the load on GCZMA to only serious cases," the CM said.
He said only minor cases would be handled by the district-level committee.
