Governor Kalyan Singh today took up the task of cleaning his room with a broom as part of the 'Swachhta Hi Sewa' (Cleanliness is Service) campaign.

The governor also asked his officers to reach office 10 minutes before schedule to clean their office rooms during the campaign.

The 'Swachhta Hi Sewa' campaign will run for a fortnight, starting from today.

Welcoming the governor's initiative, all officers and employees of the Governor House pledged to keep their rooms clean, a press release issued by the Governor's House said.

Singh also sent letters to Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, ministers, MPs, MLAs and vice chancellors of universities, asking them to contribute in making the campaign a public movement, the release stated.

In his communique, Singh urged the dignitaries and ministers to organise various cleanliness activities over the next two weeks. "Efforts to reach the masses through cleanliness activities will ensure active public participation," Singh said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had appealed to the people to participate in 'Swachhta hi Sewa' campaign during his monthly radio address 'Mann ki Baat' on August 27.
