The State Police Chief has submitted a report to the Kerala State Commission for Minorities on a complaint that the local police had failed to ensure protection to the life and property of the local residents during the large-scale violence in Nadapuram in 2015.

At a sitting here on Wednesday, Commission Chairperson P.K. Hanifa said that action would be taken against the police if it was found that there had been lapses on their part.

Cemetery issue

The Commission directed the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO), Kozhikode, to settle the dispute related to the ownership of the century-old cemetery of the CSI church at Puthiyara after complaints were lodged seeking full utilisation of the cemetery. The complainants were also asked to submit documents to the RDO on the ownership of the property dating back to 1908. The Superintendent of the Survey Department had prepared a report on the extent of land but the local authorities were yet to submit the ownership documents, the RDO informed the Commission.
