Naseeb Kaur, the mother of jailed, self-styled godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh recently met him in prison. The first question Ram Rahim asked his mother was whether all was well at the Dera Sacha Sauda.
Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, serving time behind bars for raping two female followers, seems to be worried about his kingdom - the Dera Sacha Sauda.
The self-styled godman recently met his mother Naseeb Kaur at Rohtak's Sunaria Jail, where the controversial Dera chief is lodged. According to sources, the first question Ram Rahim asked his mother was about the Dera and whether the sect was functioning fine.
Naseeb Kaur, the sources say, assured Gurmeet Ram Rahim that everything was normal within the Dera Sacha Sauda.
Notably, the Dera Sacha Sauda does not seem to be in the best of states. Cracks have emerged within the sect after Ram Rahim was sent to jail, with the biggest bone of contention being who, if anyone, would succeed Gurmeet Ram Rahim.
However, the sources did not say whether Naseeb Kaur and Gurmeet Ram Rahim spoke about any succession plans.
Incidentally, Naseeb Kaur had earlier said that Ram Rahim's son Jasmeet Singh Insan should be nominated to head the Dera Sacha Sauda.
She even asked the Dera management committee to begin the process of norminating Jasmeet as the next chief after rumours spread that Gurmeet Ram Rahim was about to appoint his foster daughter Honeypreet Insan as his successor.
However, Dera chairperson Vipassana clarified that the sect would run as it used to and that Gurmeet Ram Rahim would continue to head it.
LONELY IN JAIL?
Naseeb Kaur is the only family member who has visited Gurmeet Ram Rahim ever since he was jailed on August 25 after a Central Bureau of Investigation court convicted him of two counts of rape.
Ram Rahim has made multiple requests to meet Honeypreet Insan, his foster daughter. However, with the Haryana Police having launched a manhunt to arrest her in a sedition case, Honeypreet has seemingly gone underground.
What has perhaps made it difficult for Ram Rahim Singh's family to visit him in prison is the fact that Naseeb Kaur along with Gurmeet Ram Rahim's wife Harjeet Kaur and his children moved to Rajasthan days after the Dera chief was jailed for 20 years.
