The nominees for the 2017 Emmy Awards were announced on 13 July 2017 by Shemar Moore and Anna Chlumsky. An Emmy nomination is like a seal of quality in many ways. So the shows that get nominated get some extra limelight in the weeks that follow. Two of the biggest omissions this year are Game of Thrones and the new season of Twin Peaks. But it has nothing to do with the quality that these two shows offer, and more to do with the timing of the latest seasons. The 69th Emmy Awards, to be held on 17 September, will be hosted by Stephen Colbert.

Despite Game of Thrones not making the cut, HBO showed its might with a total of 110 nominations—the highest among all networks—thanks to the likes of Big Little Lies, The Wizard Of Lies, The Night Of, Veep. Westworld that topped the chart with a total of 22 nominations (along with NBC's Saturday Night Live). Then we have Netflix's Stranger Things with 18 nominations and The Crown with 13 nominations. The other contenders for the Outstanding Drama Series are NBC's This Is Us, Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale, AMC's Better Call Saul, and Netflix's House of Cards.

Naturally, there is a lot of buzz around the Emmy-nominated shows. But where do you watch them if you are in India?

Along with HBO's Westworld, the Netflix original show Stranger Things is being pegged as one of the top contenders for the big prize. Big Little Lies (HBO) and Feud: Bette and Joan (FX) are arguably the strongest contenders for Outstanding Limited Series. As far as Outstanding TV Movie is concerned, it's mostly likely going to be a fight between The Wizard of Lies and Black Mirror: San Junipero. The strongest contenders for the Outstanding Comedy Series Emmy are Veep and Atlanta. But the thing with Emmys is that popularity doesn't always guarantee a win and so you better brace yourself for some surprises!
