Over 60 doctors from civic-run hospitals in the city were given tips on treating snake bites at an interactive session held at Cooper Hospital on Wednesday.
Dr. Ganesh Shinde, dean of the hospital, said, “A lot of time is wasted in identifying the type of snake and whether it is a poisonous or non-poisonous one. Instead, doctors should immediately start treatment by identifying the symptoms.” The session was organised by Zero Bite Initiative, a community working towards reducing incidents of snake bites in and around Mumbai.
