College student falls into backwaters from train, rescued

A 21-year-old woman engineering student fell into backwaters from a moving train near here but was plucked to safety by fishermen.

Fishermen in the vicinity, who saw her falling from the train, immediately rushed and her, police said.


She was standing near the door when she lost her balance and fell out of the Kollam-Kanyakumari passenger train this morning as it was crossing the Paravoor-Mamootil rail bridge.

The student studying in a college in Kollam was on way to her home town here as she was not keeping well.
