1 dead, 3 injured in shooting at high school in Washington’s Spokane

The shooting was reported at Freeman High School in Rockford on Wednesday.

One person was reportedly killed and three injured after a gunman opened fire at a school in Washington’s Spokane on Wednesday.

Brian Schaeffer of the Spokane fire department confirmed the fatalities in the shooting at Freeman High School in Rockford, south of Spokane, Washington.

He also said the threat was “eliminated”.

Schools in the area were put on full lockdown for almost an hour after new of the shooting broke.

The Spokane Public Schools (SPS) posted on Twitter that all southside SPS schools were following lockdown protocol.

The Spokane Sheriff’s office said police were going from “room to room, floor by floor” to check the security of the school. “We understand parents are extremely concerned. We will provide info ASAP, please avoid area,” they posted on Twitter.

According to the Associate Press, ambulances and a Lifeflight helicopter were dispatched to the high school.
