The Cyberabad Police today cracked the case of a 17-year-old girl and apprehended her former classmate, a day after her decomposed body was found at Madhavapuri Hills in neighbouring Sangareddy district.

According to police, the juvenile accused allegedly killed the girl as she was pressurising him to continue their relationship.

"The juvenile, also a class XII student, was a close friend and a classmate of the teenage girl in school in 2015," Cyberabad Police Commissioner Sandeep Shandilya told reporters.

The Miyapur Police here had registered a case of kidnapping on a complaint lodged by family members of the girl who went missing last Saturday. A case of was registered by the Sangareddy district Police after her body was found.

The commissioner said the analysis of technical inputs by the police revealed the girl accompanied by a male had got down from an auto-rickshaw near the Hills and the duo proceeded towards the scene of crime on the evening of September 9.

"Because of their acquaintance and close relationship, the deceased has been pressurising the JCL (juvenile in conflict with law) to continue their friendship. The juvenile suspected that she is also getting close with two other boys. Hence, he discontinued his relationship with her," the commissioner said.

However, the girl was insisting that they should continue their "friendship".

"Both of them decided to sort out their problems and accordingly went to Madhavapuri Hills, where the girl picked up a quarrel with the juvenile over their relationship," Shandilya said.

He said the girl slapped the youth and threatened to kill herself during an argument, which drove the juvenile wild.

"He laid her down, hit her with blows and throttled her to death. He then dragged the body to the cliff and escaped. On the way, he threw her cell phone into a pond," the top officer said, adding that it is not a case of sexual assault.

According to another senior official, the juvenile was picked up from a location here on the basis of CCTV footages, and during questioning he claimed the girl was "pressurising him to marry her".

"It (murder) was a pre-meditated plan. We will not dwell into other issues on what led to elimination of the girl. We should not say anything on the motive which maligns both of them as the girl is no more and her version is unavailable," he said.

He said the social media is having a bad impact on the psychology of children and adviced parental guidance.
