DINDIGUL
Forty-seven of the 81 students, who were arrested for taking part in protests against National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) in Madurai on September 8, were released from Dindigul District Jail on Tuesday.
They raised slogans against the State and Central governments at the entrance of the jail, before leaving the place.
The 81 protesters, a majority of whom were college students, were detained for taking part in the anti-NEET protests near Tamukkam Ground and on Alagarkoil Road. They were produced before a magistrate court and remanded in judicial custody.
While five girls in the group were lodged in Madurai Central Prison, the others were sent to the Dindigul jail.
