Sree Krishna Jayanti celebrated in Kerala

Press Trust of India  |  Thiruvananthapuram

Sree Krishna Jayanti was celebrated across today with special poojas being conducted in temples, that witnessed a heavy rush of devotees.

A colourful procession was held as part of the 'maha shobha yatra' by the Bala Gokulam in various parts of the state.

Children dressed as Krishna and Radha lined up streets as part of the procession.

Decked in glittering robes and ornate headgear, they depicted various stages of Krishna's life.

Floats of Krishna idols and folk art forms were also taken out.

In politically sensitive Kannur district, the Shoba yatra of bala Gokulam and cultural procession organised by CPI(M) under the programme 'Mahatjanmangale Mathrukayakkuka' also passed off without any incident.

Police had made elaborate arrangements in Kannur as a precautionarymeasure to avoid any untoward incidents as the district had witnessed a series of clashes between the ruling CPI(M) and RSS-cadres in recent times.
