Last month after launching the Note 8 in New York, Samsung has finally launched its much-awaited Note 8 smartphone in India on Tuesday (12 September). Back in April, Samsung launched the eighth edition of its ‘S’ series- Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus along with S8 in India.

Samsung’s new Note 8 looks almost similar to the S8 Plus in terms of specs on paper. It’s only got the new dual camera and the S-Pen which is not available in S8 Plus. Major highlights of Samsung Galaxy Note 8 are- bigger infinity display, enhanced S-Pen, and dual camera. Let’s find out how their specs stand against each other.

Display and Camera

S8 Plus features a 6.2-inch QHD (2960x1440) super AMOLED infinity display; this was the Samsung’s first device to feature Infinity display which is nearly bezel-less, full-frontal glass, and an edge-to-edge screen. It sports a 12-megapixel rear camera with f/1.7 aperture, OIS, Pro mode and LED flash. On the front is an 8-megapixel selfie-shooter with f/1.7 aperture.

Note 8 features a 6.3-inch QHD (2960x1440) super AMOLED infinity display which is nearly bezel-less, full-frontal glass, and an edge-to-edge screen. Following the trend of dual camera Samsung has packed this device with a dual camera. It sports a dual rear camera with two 12-megapixels sensors where one works as a telephoto and other as a wide-angle camera with OIS, and 2x optical zoom. On the front is an 8-megapixels selfie camera with Auto Focus and f/1.7 aperture.

Software and Processor

Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus runs on Android 7.0 and also powered by Samsung’s Exynos 8895 Octa-core processor coupled with 4GB RAM. It has 64GB internal storage which is expandable upto 256GB through a hybrid dual-SIM configuration where second SIM slot doubles as MicroSD card holder. The S8 Plus also comes in a 6GB+128GB RAM+storage variant.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat and powered by Samsung’s Exynos 8895 Octa-core processor coupled with 6GB RAM. It has 64GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 256GB through a hybrid dual-SIM configuration where second SIM slot doubles as MicroSD card holder.

Battery and Connectivity

Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus is backed by a 3500mAh battery which supports fast charging and wireless charging.  The handset is IP68-rated water and dust-resistant. There is a fingerprint sensor near the rear camera which is used to unlock the device.

The handset measures 159.5 x 73.4 x 8.1mm and weighs 173 grams. Connectivity options are - Wi-fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v5.0, USB Type-C, 3.5mm audio-jack, NFC and GPS.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is backed by a 3300mAh battery with fast charging and wireless charging which delivers up to 22 hours of talk time. The handset+S-Pen are water and dust resistant. There is a fingerprint sensor on the right of the rear camera which is used to unlock the device.

The handset measures 162.5 x 74.8 x 8.6mm and weighs 195 grams. Connectivity options are – Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5, USB Type-C, NFC, and GPS.

Price and Availability

Priced at Rs 64,900, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus is available on Samsung.in, Flipkart, and offline channels. The 128GB variant is priced at Rs 65,900 and comes in midnight black body shade only.

Priced at Rs 68,000, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will be available on Amazon, Samsung.in, and select retail outlets.  It is offered in midnight black and maple gold colours. Customers can pre-book the device and will get it by September 21.
