Tremors felt in Napoklu

People in several villages of Napoklu hobli felt tremors on Tuesday morning.

Earthquakes of light intensity were experienced twice in the morning in Napoklu, Bettageri, Cheriyaparambu, Kallumotte, Kottamudi, Kolakeri, Bethu and Peruru between 7.35 am and 7.45 am. After hearing sounds of tremors, the villagers rushed out of their houses.

Appacchu from Nelaji village said that the people mistook the sound of the trembling of earth for thunder. He said he thought it was a chopper carrying out the operation of cloud seeding.

“But the earthquake was confirmed after we experienced the tremors,” Appacchu added.

Gram Panchayat member Hosoklu Muttappa said that utensils shook and fell in some houses at Ballamavati.

Revenue officer Ramaiah said the earthquake has not been recorded on Richter Scale at the Earthquake Information Centre in Harangi, as the seismic activity was mild in nature.
