India's fuel demand falls 6.1 percent in August

(Reuters) - India's demand fell 6.1 percent in August compared with the same month last year.

Consumption of fuel, a proxy for oil demand, totalled 15.75 million tonnes in August, data from the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) of the oil ministry showed on Tuesday.

of gasoline, or petrol, were 0.8 percent lower from a year earlier at 2.19 million tonnes.

Cooking gas or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) increased 11.8 percent to 2.06 million tonnes. Naphtha fell 7.6 percent to 1.06 million tonnes.
