The Consumer Price Index (CPI) -based inflation for the month of August stood at 3.36 per cent, compared with 2.36 per cent in July, showed official data released on Tuesday.
Another set of data released on Tuesday revealed that the country’s industrial activity, as measured by the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) saw an expansion of 1.2 per cent in July, compared to a contraction of 0.2 per cent the previous month. The July industrial expansion, however, was a considerable drop from 4.5 per cent in the same month last year.
