If you're a public figure like U.S. senator Ted Cruz then you should expect that your social media accounts—say, your Twitter—will be heavily scrutinized in this day and age. Unfortunately for U.S. senator Ted Cruz, he may not have been careful enough in maintaining his verified account, as it was last night revealed that he—or someone with access to his Twitter—used the @tedcruz handle to like a pornographic video shared by the account @SexuallPosts.

The video—which depicts a woman walking in on two people having sex, and then pleasuring herself in secret—has since become a meme, and the account that shared the clip has changed their bio to reflect Cruz's apparent fandom of their material: "Follow for the Same Porn @TedCruz Watches," it now reads.

The Man's Guide To Kinky Sex:

Cruz's staff is denying the like's authenticity; late last night, his senior communications advisor said that they had reported the incident to Twitter.

Unsurprisingly, that hasn't stopped the rest of Twitter from weighing in with their reactions to the incident.

Will Cruz go to further lengths to distance himself from the video? Or can he only hope that this incident will quietly fade out of the public's mind? Either way, it's going to be a long day on Capitol Hill for the junior senator.
