Ahead of the scheduled unveiling of the iPhone 8, along with a new range of other devices on September 12 2017, Apple has been hit with a major leak which has revealed top secret information about the company’s latest products, according to a report by Forbes.

A report by the BBC indicates that the leak originated from a  “disgruntled employee”, the source, released the final version (aka ‘Gold Master’) of iOS 11 and it contains all the information of upcoming releases, including a potential late name change and new Apple Watch.

The majority of the leaked data is around the features of Apple’s iPhone, which is rumoured to have undergone one of the biggest ever upgrades. Below are some of the features which were revealed by the Forbes report:

iPhone Design –  The iPhone 8 will contain an array of icons and graphics illustrating the almost bezel-less new display. There will also be a ‘notch’ at the top which holds the front facing camera and new 3D sensors.

True Tone iPhone – The leak also revealed that the iPhone 8 will upgrade to the iPad Pro’s True Tone Display for professional grade colour accuracy.

New Aspect Ratio, New Resolution – iPhone 8 will have an elongated 18.5:9 aspect ratio, matching that of rivals Samsung, and an increased native resolution of 2436 x 1125 pixels.

Wireless Charging – The wireless charging will be based on the Qi standard, but will be incompatible with existing Qi-based chargers and require Apple licensing. It will also only operate at 7.5 watts, so it won’t offer the faster-charging speeds of the latest Qi standards.

Apple Pay via Face ID – Apple’s ‘Face ID’ facial recognition will replacement the Touch ID and can be used to authenticate payments.

Dynamic Status Bar – The ‘notch’ will contain new animations to replace the lost space which will include charging and a ‘double height’ expansion for showing more detailed information like location tracking, incoming calls or recording.

New Front Facing 3D Sensors – The depth sensing module in the iPhone 8 is composed of a structured light receiver, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, front camera, and structured light transmitter. This could see the device gain unparalleled facial recognition accuracy which will be used for both phone unlocking, better selfies and even ‘animojis.’

Black Bezels Only – The iPhone 8 will be black.

These leaked features and much more will be officially revealed by Apple at their launch event on the 12th of September 2017.
