MedTech land: ‘it is too early to call it a scam’

more-in

Referring to the news item published in The Hindu on Saturday with the headline, ‘SIT initiates probe into MedTech land scam’, the SIT has said that though there are a few issues, it is too early to call it a scam as an inquiry is still under way.

But the SIT has made it clear that as per the inquiry conducted so far, the entire extent of about 270 acres at Nadupuru in Visakhapatnam district, which was acquired for the MedTech facility, is government land and not private land.

Revenue officials should identify the encroachers / enjoyers of the said land as per the G.O.

The inquiry was taken up on specific written complaint (along with some other land-related issues) lodged by Panchayat Raj Minister Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu to the SIT, alleging that in the Health Hub land acquisition survey, some benami names had been included in the list for payment of compensation.

“The SIT is inquiring into the contents of the same,” said SIT DIG Vineet Brijlal.
