It was an evening of nostalgia and celebration for hundreds of Sivaji fans at Sri Meenakshi Paradise theatre here on Sunday evening at the 100th day of screening of the digitally remastered version of the actor’s popular film ‘Rajapart Rangadurai.’.
Speaking at the function, ‘Madurai’ Kavirajan, one of the fans and a distributor of Sivaji Ganesan’s films during the late actor’s active years, said it was incredible that there was such a huge gathering to celebrate a 44-year-old movie of an yesteryear actor.
“The gathering stands testimony to the greatness of the actor. I will confidently say that no actor in Tamil Nadu has come closer to Sivaji Ganesan in terms of their acting skill and dialogue delivery,” he said, to loud cheers from the fans, majority of whom were 50 years and above.
N. Govindarajan, a 73-year-old fan, said the function reminded him of his youth, when he and his friends ensured that they watched the movies of the actor on the first day of its release. “Since I have watched Sivaji Ganesan’s films countless times, I can recite the dialogues of almost all his popular films, including Parasakthi and Rajapart Rangadurai,” he said.
The organisers said fans from across Tamil Nadu and even Karnataka and Kerala had come for the function.
