Maha govt, MDFVPL ink MoU to set up processing plant

The and Mother Dairy Fruit and Vegetable (MDFVPL), a subsidiary of National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), today signed an agreement to set up milk and milk processing plant in the state.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and NDDB, will implement a dairy development initiative in and Marathwada, under which milk producers in the region will be provided access to markets in and Mumbai, a release said.


Besides, transferring the dairy on lease and land for setting up a new dairy at Gove Bhiwandi, will provide assistance including funds for a coordinated approach to improve productivity through animal breeding, nutrition and health, it added.

NDDB Chairman Dilip Rath said, MDFVPL has already initiated milk procurement operations in Amravati, Wardha, Nagpur, Chandrapur, Nanded, Osmanabad, Buldana and Yavatmal, he said.

Presently, about 11,437 milk pourers in 573 operational Milk Pooling Points (MPPs) covering 924 villages are collectively pouring about 70,580 litres of milk per day, he added.

Milk producers, he said, are receiving payment directly in their bank accounts.

He said, a total amount of Rs 37.1 crore has been paid to milk producers till August 31, 2017 (since November 2016).

Currently, Rs 2.32 crore per payment cycle of 10 days, is being paid to the milk producers, he said.

The dairy plant has now been refurbished and liquid milk packed at the dairy is being marketed in the city, he added.
