Party remains popular even today as was the case in 2015, says Kejriwal

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) volunteers would promote the Delhi government’s education and healthcare services to residents in their area, AAP national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Sunday.

Ensure facilities

Addressing a convention of the AAP’s Delhi State unit’s office-bearers, Mr. Kejriwal said the all booth-level volunteer should “ensure education for all children” and “health for all those living in the area”.

This was the first such convention of leaders, office-bearers and workers after the AAP won the Bawana by-election last month.

Referring to the victory, Mr. Kejriwal said that questions over the party’s popularity after the rout in the Punjab Assembly elections, Delhi municipal polls and Rajouri Garden by-poll had been answered.

He said the party was still popular today as it was in 2015, when it won a historic mandate of 67 out of 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly election. Speaking about the focus on health and education, Mr. Kejriwal said that volunteers at the polling booth-level will take responsibility of ensuring that all children have access to education.

Helping parents

They will have to identify children who are not attending school and help them enrol in government schools. They will also help parents of government school students in case they have any problems with the schools.

Mr. Kejriwal said that the party volunteers would also help residents in their areas get access to healthcare.

Speaking about the party’s position in the Capital, Delhi unit chief Gopal Rai said that the Bawana bypoll result was a proof that Delhiites still supported the AAP.
