Sunday was Houston Texans' first game of the 2017 NFL season, and it started on their home field at NRG Stadium. The moment was particularly emotional, as the city is still recovering from the ravaging effects of Hurricane Harvey. This drama was compounded by the return of Pro Bowl defensive end J.J. Watt, who sustained a season-ending back injury last September. Between then and now, Watt wasn't just rehabbing his body back into playing shape, though; he also led a campaign to raise over $30 million for Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. So, saying that the home crowd was happy to see him would be a slight understatement.

The cheers were deafening after Watt's name was announced prior to the start of the Texans' showdown with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Watt triumphantly emerged from the tunnel holding a Texas flag and waved it around a few times before running out to the middle of the field to join his teammates.

J.J. Watt is a Freak of Fitness:

After Hurricane Harvey first hit Houston, Watt started a fundraising page with the goal of raising $200,000 for helping victims of the storm. As of Monday morning, Watt's fundraiser has raised over $31 million.

Watt's efforts started an incredible trend of giving by his fellow celebrities; Kevin Hart soon followed in Watt's footsteps by calling on other high-profile stars fellow to donate to the relief efforts. Though the game ended in a 29-7 loss for the Texans, as well as a minor finger injury for Watt, the result does nothing to dampen the inspiring spirit around his campaign.
