He is known for being a part of several hit films such as "X-Men Origins: Wolverine", "John Carter" and "Savages", but actor Taylor Kitsch says there was a time when he did not even have a proper house to live.

The 36-year-old star, who played Paul Woodrugh on HBO's popular series "True Detective", says he once slept on a subway in New York City, reported Us weekly.

"It was a blue train from downtown all the way up to 182nd and at night they'd change, they'd take longer, A, C or E. Then I was in an apartment with no electricity or power or hot water for months," Kitsch recalls at the "American Assassins" premiere in New York.

He, however, adds, "When you don't have a contingency, it's funny what you'll put up with. At the time you're not thinking that, you're just doing it and you're young.
