It’s been a while since a lot of brands came up with dual camera in the mid-range smartphones, Xiaomi and Moto both have launched their devices in this category with the aim of leading the segment.
Both Motorola and Xiaomi are innovating fast and trying to provide best features to the consumers. Motorola came up with G5s Plus and Xiaomi with Mi A1. Let’s find out how their specs stand against each other.
Software and Processor
Mi A1 runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 Octa-core processor coupled with 4GB RAM. It has 64GB internal storage which is expandable up to 128GB through a hybrid dual-SIM configuration.
G5s Plus runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat and powered by 2.0 GHz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor coupled with 4GB RAM. It has 64GB internal storage which is expandable up to 128GB through MicroSD card.
Display and Camera
Mi A1 features a 5.5-inch FHD (1920x1080) display with Corning Gorilla Glass Protection. The handset is 7.3mm slim and weighs only 165 grams. Mi A1 sports 12-MP+12-MP dual camera setup where one works as Telephoto lens to click portrait photos and other as a wide-angle lens to click landscape photos. The rear cameras feature 2x optical zoom, 10x digital zoom, and LED flash. The dual camera setup in the A1 is quite similar to the iPhone 7 Plus. On the front is a 5-megapixels selfie shooter.
G5s Plus features a 5.5-inch full-HD (1920x1080) display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It sports a dual camera setup at the rear with 13-MP+13-MP dual sensors with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash. On the front is an 8-MP selfie camera with wide-angle lens, f/2.0 aperture and LED flash. Front camera comes with Beautification mode, Pro mode, and Panorama.
Battery and Connectivity
Moto G5s Play is also backed by a 3000mAh battery which lasts for a day. With TurboPower charging, you can get 6 hours of battery life in just 15 minutes. It also has a fingerprint sensor at the bottom of the display which can unlock the device as well as used for navigating the screen.
Connectivity options include - Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.2, micro USB, 3.5mm audio-jack, and GPS. It is available in lunar gray and blush gold colours.
Mi A1 is backed by a 3080mAh battery and bears a fingerprint sensor at the back of the handset. Connectivity options include – Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G VoLTE, 3.5mm audio jack, GPS.
Price and Availability
Xiaomi launched Mi A1 in India on 5 September. Priced at Rs 14,999, the smartphone will be available on Mi.com, Mi Home, and Flipkart from September 12; it will also be available through offline channels from the same day. The handset features dual cameras, big display, and full metal body. It is available in three body shades- black, gold and rose gold.
Moto G5s Plus was launched in India on 29 August. Priced at Rs 15,999, Moto G5s Plus is exclusively available on Amazon. It is available in blush gold and lunar grey.
